Our Sporting Life - Henley

13 March - 11 July 2010

Our Sporting Life - Henley

A unique community exhibition, Our Sporting Life - Henley, celebrates the history and diversity of Henley's sporting life through its clubs, organisations and talented individuals.  It showcases the sporting moments, heroes, ojects, photographs and experiences that have inspired the people of Henley.

From local heroes such as Graham Edmunds, double gold medal winning Paralympic swimmer, to Rob Warner, fomer UK Downhill Mountainbike Champion, to the Henley Swim, the exhibition mixes contemporary stories with local legends.

Having been granted the London 2012 Inspire Mark from LOCOG, the exhibition will feed into a national exhibition in London for the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Alongside the exhibition the River & Rowing Museum will be holding taster days with events and activities for everyone to get involved with.  It is the perfect opportunity to come and try a new sport, and then to visit the exhibition.

FREE Sports Taster Sessions:

If you have always wanted to try something new, but don't know where to start, or would like to improve your technique, this is the perfect opportunity!  We will have a number of sports coaches on site and in the meadows to help you get started or improve your existing skills.  The sessions are for all ages, and all abilities.

The next session will be on Sunday 23 May.

Local clubs involved include Henley Golf, Rugby, Hockey and Cricket Clubs.

Drop in to have a go at anytime between 11am - 4pm.  Registration is in the Museum foyer and the sports will take place on Mill Meadows and in the Museum car park.  Participants will be given FREE entry to the Museum on the day of their participation in the taster sessions.
