The Wind in the Willows
The permanent exhibition of Kenneth Grahame’s much-loved tale opened at the Museum in May 2004. Both Kenneth Grahame’s evocative language and EH Shepard’s famous drawings are brought to life in an enchanting recreation of this classic English novel. Step into the pages of the book and walk along the River Bank, through the Wild Wood, into Badger’s House and through all twelve chapters of this delightful adventure.
The exhibition will captivate children and young people as they are guided through the story by readings from the novel on hand held audio guides. When not in The Wind in the Willows there are inspirational activity sheets available for the rest of the galleries.
- Wind in the Willows costs £4 per child, helpers within the student:adult ratio are free.
- The maximum group size is 70. Students can visit the exhibition in smaller groups of up to 8 with one or two adults depending on the age of the children.
- It takes 20 – 30 minutes to go through the Exhibition. You will be provided with a timetable for group visits. We recommend you plan to spend 2 hours in the Museum, depending on the age of the children.
