Object Donation
The Museum would not have the diverse and fascinating collection it has without the generosity of people who make object donations. We are always happy to hear from people with items they would like to give. Unfortunately we can not always take everything we are offered. Each item we are offered is taken to a regular aquisitions meeting where we discuss the potential donation and decide whether we can accept it based on the following guidelines:
- Artefacts - especially boats, oars and related equipment that illustrate the history of oar powered craft for work, leisure and competitive sport
- Artefacts which will increase appreciation and understanding of the natural and human history which has been influenced by the presence of the River Thames and its tributaries
- Artefacts which will enable the Museum to tell the story of the historical development of the town of Henley and its environs and the town's association with the river
The Museum may not accept items that cannot be stored or conserved to an acceptable standard.
We do not accept items on 'permanent loans'.
Objects will only be accepted on loan for temporary exhibitions or for display.
If you would like to discuss donating an object to the Museum, please contact a member of the Curatorial team on 01491 415600 or email museum@rrm.co.uk
