Frances Spalding is an art historian, critic and biographer with a specialist interest in twentieth-century British art.  She has published some 15 books, including a joint biography of John and Myfanwy Piper, and writes for various newspapers and magazines. She is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Literature and in 2005 was awarded a CBE for services to literature.

This talk looks at the diverse styles and media that John Piper used in the course of his life, as well as the interests and values that directed his looking and shaped his artistic vision.
