12 Month Tickets
Use your ticket time and again
For the price of a single visit you can return to the
Museum as often as you'd like for 12 months from the date the
ticket was purchased.
Since April 2006 all admissions tickets (excluding group
and some other tickets) have been valid for 12 months.
That means you can return time and again. You could have a quick
after school visit to see The Wind in the Willows, see new Special
Exhibitions as they open or just pop in to browse in your favourite
galleries. It means you do not have to try and see all the Museum
in just one visit.
Why is the Museum offering return tickets?
Under a revision of the Gift Aid rules that came into force in
April 2006 we had the choice to charge 10% more for visitors
wanting to turn their admission into a donation, or we could offer
a 12 month return ticket.
As it seemed unfair to exclude those who could not Gift Aid their
admission and we did not wish to charge more, we decided that the
majority of our admission tickets should be valid for 12
months.
What is Gift Aid?
Gift Aid is a Treasury operated scheme that means registered
charities can reclaim the tax already paid on donations made to
them. When visiting the Museum it means you can offer to make a
donation equivalent to the admission price when purchasing your
tickets.
If you are a UK tax payer the Museum can claim the tax you have
already paid on your donation, all we need is your name and
address. These details are only used for the Gift Aid scheme. This
means we can claim back 28p in every £1 donated and makes a
significant contribution to the running costs of the Museum.
Please download a Gift Aid Visitor form and bring it with you next
time you visit the Museum. This can significantly cut down your
queuing time.
