HMS Revival – raising awareness of pollution

This boat is a showcase of recycled plastic collected from the River Thames and elsewhere in Henley on Thames. The plastic was collected by River Revival, a group of young people aged 15-17 from Henley and the surrounding area.

After cleaning the area, the team used the collected rubbish to construct the boat, as a way to attract more attention to the cause. A number of local organisations also donated disused plastic. The boat is a visual representation of the amount of litter that travels down the river, and the fact we were able to obtain so much is a powerful statement in itself.

Through the project, River Revival aims to raise awareness of public pollution and inspire more young people to take part in environmental projects and have an impact in areas important to them.

HMS is currently on display in the Community Gallery at the Museum.
