Rowing Futures: Gala Reception and Dinner
15th November 2019 @ 6:30 pm - 10:00 pm
We are excited to announce a gala event on the evening before our biennial rowing conference – Rowing Futures: Inspiration, engagement & the future.
The evening will include the launch of exciting new additions to the Museum’s Rowing Gallery: a display on Women’s Rowing and the installation of The Unbeaten Boat – the 2012 racing hull that never lost a race. As well as achieving the first Olympic Gold for Team GB at the London 2012 Games, The Unbeaten Boat helped Helen Glover and Heather Stanning to a number of GB National Trials wins, 45 International Championships wins, and laid the foundations for their second Olympic Gold at Rio in the new 2016 version of the hull. We’re delighted that Helen Glover and Coach Robin Williams will be our guests of honour, taking part in a Q&A session chaired by Olympic rowing medallist Greg Searle.
Conference: Rowing Futures
Saturday 16 November 2019, 9:30am – 5.30pm
Our rowing conference will explore how rowing in the UK pushes boundaries – increasing diversity, encouraging the growth of indoor rowing and inspiring the next generation of Olympians and Paralympians. As home to the world’s largest collection of rowing artefacts, the River & Rowing Museum is the perfect location to host this topical event.
